Ocala Truss - Building Solutions
Manning Building Supplies, Inc. now manufactures light gauge metal trusses at our Ocala Truss Plant. Observing the increasing demand for metal trusses in our industry, the Ocala Truss Plant recognized this as an opportunity to expand Manning’s product offerings.
Built upon the extensive truss engineering, experienced fabricators and widespread software knowledge of our designers, the addition of the steel truss production has proven successful. With steel being green, easy to specify & design with high structural performance and high quality, it is no surprise that more steel trusses are installed on commercial projects each year.
Edwards Construction, a long time customer and nationally recognized leader in the building industry, is in the process of completing several commercial jobs in The Villages. Manning has provided steel trusses for these projects and look forward to many future opportunities.

Green Remodeling
Vinyl Windows
While the construction industry (new home building specifically) is experiencing a slow down, the same is not true in the remodeling industry. In fact, 67% (2007 survey) percent of remodelers believe that revenue will increase or be comparable to the previous year. Americans spend $160 billion each year on remodeling. If just a fraction of the money was focused on greener construction, we could restore a significant portion of the world’s ecosystems, while immediately creating a healthier indoor environment for our families.
Green remodeling is easy. The difficult part for a remodeler is assisting a homeowner in deciding just how “green” they want their homes to be. Many homeowners start a room at a time. They pick and choose among the options for the design features and green building products that serve the homeowners interests, and budget.
Windows are among the most popular items homeowners choose to replace. Specifically, vinyl windows are purchased for their “green” value. Vinyl windows are impervious to rust, rot, blistering, corrosion, flaking and infestation by termites or other insects. In today’s market, plastic rivals traditional materials for windows and frames, providing competitive energy efficient, aesthetics, design flexibility and cost criteria. Plastic products have low thermal conductivity, thus reducing heating and cooling costs; though still provide protection against dangerous weather. Vinyl window frames enhance energy efficiency by creating chambers in the frame that provide additional resistance to heat transfer and insulating air pockets. This means energy efficiency of vinyl windows can reduce electricity used to heat and cool a home.
Consumers want their remodeling projects green and remodelers are answering the call. Energy efficiency continues to lead the way, but for items beyond appliances, the installation matters as much as the product. Whether it’s Low e windows or storm doors Manning Building Supplies, Inc. stands ready to install them, for a remodel or a brand new energy efficient Quick Wall home.
